This year's summer vacation and I wanted to spend a little differently. We decided to paradise in the middle of the Atlantic - Madeira. Because preservation of foods Madeira is a small island, preservation of foods but no less interesting and varied, we have extended holiday in Lisbon and its surroundings. About Madeira I read a lot of good, but we did not know anyone who would really ever there. And we went to check - can you describe themselves with superlatives and with a few words - botanical garden in the middle of the ocean with stunning views of the cliffs on the coast.
Vacations we were together for 11 days, of which 6 unforgettable days in Madeira. We flew from Zagreb to Lisbon preservation of foods and on to Madeira. The flight lasts approx. 3 hours to Lisbon and then an hour and a half to Madeira. The airport is 20 km away from Funchal, where we had reserved hotel. We flew around two in the morning, hired a taxi and began the tale. At night, we did not even see much because the taxi driver drove over 100 km / h over the twisted tunnels with an open window. We got a great room at The Lince ****, which I booked through Agoda.
In the morning we start exploring. For a little more sense we take (like a real tourist :)) two-day ticket for Bus Hop on - Hop off. Menu is quite foggy, but in the end proved to be an excellent move. First, the plan was renting a car for all 5 days and explore the whole island. However, we first investigated only two days of Funchal and is almost impossible to park and move along in your car. Therefore, the bus was the perfect preservation of foods choice. We did the entire first round, preservation of foods we've got a feeling, and then in the center and on the main market.
The place is nice, clean and very tidy, all the streets paved with patterns, people are very friendly. Funchal is arranged like Monaco - a city adorned with beautiful flowers, which we know from our living rooms, meticulously manicured lawns and gardens, avenues, fountains. Everything is as "from the box". We were most impressed with the air conditioning - a pleasant 22 degrees and a slight wind. Throughout preservation of foods the day you can be in short sleeves and shorts, but I was never too hot. So you can walk all day without heat and explore the inconvenience. Madeira preservation of foods has the same climate all year round - during the day around 20 degrees at night 15 In winter some degree less in the summer some more. Air conditioning is therefore an ideal all year round for all types of sporting activities, especially walking. preservation of foods Such temperatures are very liable to older, so it is here very much longer on active holidays.
The town has a lot of tourists because of Madeira living from tourism. Every year 1.2 million tourists visited most of which is housed in Funchal. Funchal has a population of 280,000 according to the data. That is why at every step all tailored to tourists and their wallets. Funchal is divided into the old town, the hotel part of the city and to the part where the locals live. Hotels are huge and mostly with 4 or 5 stars. When I was looking for the hotel, I was very surprised by the size of the hotel. I imagined a small, boutique hotel with a few rooms, but not such huge with 200-300 rooms. Live is not so terrible and even the island of transferring a number of tourists at a time.
From the town we climbed by cable car to the top of the hill, which is situated above the town. Gorgeous views of the whole city, and the first specialty - Madeira pierced as Emmentaler. The tunnel is. Tunnels are endless - it would be interesting to find information, how many miles of tunnel in Madeira. Many tunnels carved on the island preservation of foods only, no plaster, no electricity, preservation of foods no exits, water running all over the place. preservation of foods Road through preservation of foods a tunnel running up, down, in turn, bidirectional, but the tunnel speed limit 100km / h, and even overtaking is allowed. At times us what shaken ... :)
On the hill is a gorgeous botanical preservation of foods garden, and another peculiarity - for some 10 eur these two gentlemen take us two kilometers through the normal asphalt road back to the valley preservation of foods on wooden sleds and inhibit the soles of special boots. Both were transported preservation of foods to the site in the past. We ended the day with excellent lunch (local fish) and ride the bus to the small seaside town of Ribeira Brava. preservation of foods West of Funchal among the houses huge banana plantations - who would have thought. :)
